THE BACKYARD BRAWL IS HERE AGAIN

The Backyard Brawl, high school football style, is here again.  Friday night at 7:30pm the Dots will take on the Nitro Wildcats at O.O. White Stadium.  Last season the Wildcats beat the Dots 40-12 but this season should be a bit different.  Although Nitro no longer has Chad Snodgrass, who is now at WVU, they still have a potent offense with senior QB Mike Scott and WR Marcus Valentine.  The Dots are looking forward to the rematch of the 2007 backyard brawl.  With plenty of returning starters from last season’s state playoff 8-4 team, the players are ready to continue the rich tradition that former Poca players have laid before them.

O.O. White Stadium should be a packed house come 7:30pm this Friday night.  Get there soon and be ready to cheer hard and loud for the Poca Dots.  The 2007 season is finally here and the quest for Wheeling is about to begin!!

Tony Sotelo selected to All-WVIAC Honorable Mention team | *Photo courtesy of FSU.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Tony was catching a TD pass over the outstretched fingers of Kelly Mariotti from Jake Shamblim to tie the game up with Bluefield in what would be the Dots record setting 3rd straight AA title. Now, Tony is making his mark known in the West Virginia Conference.

Starting out at EKU, Tony decided to move closer to home and transfered to Fairmont State University where he is now the starting TE for the Fighting Falcons.

This season Tony has been selected to the All-WVIAC Honorable Mention team.

Congratulations Tony, keep up the good work!

Poca ends season 8-4

If you took notes Friday night this won't be a surprise. Wayne ran 58 plays and only scored 13 points. The problem for Poca was they couldn't get any offense going. Poca totaled 60 yards of offense against the Pioneers. It was a night where offensive mistakes took their toll.

But let's not hang our heads this season. Let's review. In 2004 the Dots went 2-8. In 2005 the Dots went 3-7. in 2006 the Dots went 8-4 and made it to the Quarterfinals and a #6 ranking in the state. Are the Dots back? That's to be seen. The seniors have put the Dots back in the winners column and now the underclassmen have to pick up where they left off. It starts next month, or even sooner, with offseason conditioning and weight lifting. The Dots have to get bigger, stronger and faster. Whatever it takes!

As for the 12 Seniors: Steve Massie, Nathan Patton, Aaron Shamblin, Chad Craigo, Nick Browning, Tyler Ragan, Austin Jeffries, Rocky Persinger, Tyler McLane, Cody Boggs, Jeremy Crites & Jeremiah Holstein ..... Thanks for putting the Dots back where they belong!!!

The Pride is Back!!!

Dots blast Highlanders 50-6

The Dots played an excellent game on the wet muddy field of O. O. White Stadium defeating the visiting Webster County Highlanders 50-6. The entire TEAM played a great game.

The Dots will travel to Wayne Friday night at 7:30. Poca looks to avenge a regular season letdown loss to the Pioneers.

Great job guys! Keep it up!
